Question & Answers
1. What is IHT's core technology? Patented closed-loop in-door growing systems that grow plants both Hydroponically AND Inverted. System hardware includes proximate lighting and massive air flow.
2. How does the inverted growing system work? Plants are suspended roots-up in stainless steel troughs with V-shaped fingers for stem support. Nutrients and water flow down via gravity. Proximate lighting and multiple fans optimize air flow leading to improved photosynthesis, cellular transpiration and evaporation.
3. What physiological changes occur in inverted plants? Gravity influences root dynamics (statoliths trigger downward growth), shoot elongation (thin, hollow stems), gene expression (altered trafficking), auxin redistribution (promotes lower-side growth), gravity regulation (increases nodes/flowers), calcium shifts (signaling), microtubule reorientation, and chloroplast repositioning for efficiency.
4. How does it accelerate growth? Plant inversion triggers gravitropic responses, enhancing nutrient absorption and stem/leaf development. Cylindrical shaped plants grow rapidly downward induced by rapid water/nutrient flow and with gravity.
5. What are the key benefits? 2-3 fold yield increase, 90% water reduction via recycling, 2.5 to 3 times faster growth rate, larger plants (12-15 feet), reduced maintenance (1-2 hours/cycle generating significantly higher gross operating margins
6. How sustainable is it? Closed-loop recycles nutrients/water, preserves arable land, reduces waste; eco-friendly without genetic/chemical alterations.
